210,000 // That's how

many people live in

the area surrounding

Believers Church.

That's 210,000 people with 210,000 stories.

Look even deeper and you’ll see 210,000 eternities, hanging in the balance. The vast majority, merely existing, just buying time. Frustrated with a lack of purpose, searching for hope. Believers Church exists to change their story. We exist to see a city, and far beyond, connected with God and transformed forever by the power of Jesus. And the time has come to take the next step in our mission.

31 years ago, a small group of people crowded into an unfinished basement in a house on Valacamp Ave in Warren, Ohio. Their mission was simple - spark a move of God that would reach a city. They were pioneers. Led by a twenty-four-year-old pastor - wet behind the ears, but hungry to reach his hometown - Believers Church was born. And with it was born a dream: Impact an entire region for God’s Kingdom, and leave Northeastern Ohio different than we found it. There was a boldness in those days, faith, in its most real and raw form. And God met our faith with His faithfulness.

Everything was new. The people. Their passion. Their purpose. And more people kept showing up. The more we pushed ahead, the more people we reached. Hundreds soon became thousands, and our house began to gain influence and trust in a city that desperately needed Jesus. We gained new ground and followed our leaders to blaze the next trail. Never satisfied with where we were. Always pushing ahead.

Today, everything is new again. We stand on the verge of a new wave of God. The next wave. It’s different. It’s unique. And it comes with its own set of challenges. Our culture is in a different place than it was in 1983. Over 43,000 people leave The Church in America every week and never come back. 100 years ago, there was one church for every 10,000 people. Today there is one church for every 37,000 people. Most disturbing of all, over 60% of our community is unchurched – far from God and lost without Him.

It’s time to return to our roots. Time to dream big again. Other cities await us. And we are ready and willing to lead the way into the untamed wilderness. It’s time to write the next chapter in our church. It’s time to pioneer- again.

What if we had one fund?

The 210 Initiative is unlike anything we have ever done as a church. It’s much more than a building renovation project, carrying the potential to impact our church and our community for decades to come. It’s not simply about building our facility or future campuses, it’s about building people. It’s not about a moment, it’s about creating sustainable momentum that will take us into tomorrow. It’s not an individual campaign, but is instead all inclusive.

One budget, one pledge, one vision.

Here’s how the money will be used:

Annual Ministry Operations – This budget covers all day-to-day expenses of running Believers Church including staff, utilities, ministry support, debt service etc. This is determined each year with the direction of our Board of Trustees.

Year 1, 2015 – $2.125 million

How does this change our giving to missions, general fund and other special offerings?

We will continue to set aside a percentage of our regular ministry budget to go to our current ministry and outreach commitments. All gifts given to the church during 210 will go into a single, unified budget that will support our ongoing ministries and the facility renovation project.

When does my commitment begin and end?

The 210 Initiative goes from January 2015 through December 2016. We are also asking everyone to prayerfully consider bringing a “Heart for the House” offering during the weekend of December 13 & 14. The idea of this offering is to give the initiative a healthy boost out of the gate. We’re asking you to pray about giving a significant portion — up to 10% (or more), if you are willing and able — of your total 2-year gift commitment. This offering, as well as any year-end contributions over our current budget, will go towards 210.

What if I’ve never given to Believers Church before?

If you have never given to BC before, the 210 Initiative was crafted specifically with you in mind. 210 is a “one fund” generosity initiative, meaning it is different from a traditional capital campaign where you are called to give an extra amount above and beyond your normal giving – creating two steps for people who aren’t yet giving. 210 is a call to radical, sacrificial generosity for absolutely everyone at Believers. If you’ve never given before, it’s time for you to get in the game with a radical sacrifice. We can’t wait to hear what God does as you take this step!

Are there other ways to participate beyond just giving cash?

Absolutely! There are many ways that you can contribute including gifts of stock, property or other accumulated assets. Be creative! If we can help in facilitating these types of gifts, please contact our Chief Financial Officer Jim Cameneti at JimC@believers.cc for assistance. (Acts 4:32-36)

What if I can’t fulfill my commitment?

We know that a lot can happen in two years! Your commitment is not a contract, but a covenant that is between you and God. While we hope that you will be able to fulfill your pledge, God knows your heart and your ability to give. We encourage you to live out this commitment as fully as you are able by grace, not guilt.

We’re still struggling financially. How do we contribute to 210?

210 is all about us learning to trust God more deeply and putting Him first in all we do. So we believe that asking God how he would have you contribute to 210 will challenge you to deeper faith. The important thing is not how much we give, but the heart with which we give. We want everyone to share in the joy of contributing to God’s work and seeing how God builds our life of faith in the process. Please contact us if you would like to speak to a budget counselor or get connected to our Financial Peace University classes.

Where do I go if I have questions?

Questions are always welcome! You can contact us any time by emailing us at info@believers.cc.

So what is
my next step?

We invite you to find where you are, and take at least one step in the direction of Biblical generosity.

If you are currently an occasional giver, what would your contributions look like at an intentional level? Or what increase in giving would it take to move from being intentional to tithing — or from tithing to extravagant?

Whatever your next step may be, we are so excited to see what God does with your willingness and obedience to expand His kingdom here on Earth.

I will not sacrifice to my Lord that which costs me nothing.
1 Chronicles 21:24
